Repair & Maintenance of the City's Streets

  • Pot hole repairs
  • Sinkhole repairs
  • Berming the edge of roadways
  • Bridge cleaning
  • Weed control around guardrails and fences
  • Street and warning signs, repair and replacement
  • Mowing SR-21(approximately 150 acres) and site-clearance areas throughout the City of Norton
  • Clearing and trimming of brush and trees
  • Traffic control and cleanup from accidents
  • Clean up of dead animals in the roadway
  • Roadside trash cleanup
  • Emergency response to storm damage

Repair and Maintenance of the Storm Sewers & Drainage Systems 

  • Replacement of collapsed and rotted storm water culvert pipes across streets
  • Repair or replacement of broken and failing storm water tile lines
  • Repair or replacement of storm water catch basins
  • Cleaning of storm water culvert lines
  • Cleaning of storm water tile lines
  • Cleaning of storm water catch basins
  • Storm water ditch cleaning
  • Storm water ditch enclosures
  • EPA Phase II Storm Water Management Program (EPA Mandate)

Repair & Maintenance of the Municipal Buildings, Parks & Cemeteries

  • Mowing and weed cutting approximately 90 acres
  • Mulching of flower beds (with approximately 60 plus yards of donated mulch)
  • Tree and hedge trimmings
  • Trash pick-up at all parks and buildings twice a week, and as needed for the Community Center or Park Pavilion rentals.
  • Repair of turf damage to soccer and football fields
  • Keeping Tennis courts clean and free of debris and nets properly adjusted
  • Repair of fences on City properties
  • Williams Park community notice sign changes
  • Replacement of U.S. Flags that fly year round and flags that are raised during holidays. (Completed as an Eagle Scout project)
  • Mowing of high grass from complaints throughout the City of Norton
  • Repair of playground equipment in parks
  • Repair and replacement of picnic tables in parks
  • Snow and ice removal from sidewalks and parking lots of City properties
  • Downspout and Gutter cleaning of City buildings
  • Christmas decorations and lights in the parks
  • Cider festival
  • Routine maintenance for all buildings (painting, lighting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC)
  • Most of the buildings are 30 plus years old and are in need of major repairs beyond normal day to day maintenance.
  • Roof repairs of City buildings
  • Entry doors at City buildings
  • Concrete sidewalks on City properties
  • Gutter and down spouts on City buildings
  • Outdoor lighting at City properties
  • Painting of City facilities and buildings

Repair & Maintenance of the City Owned Vehicles and Equipment

  • The Public Service Department maintains most of the vehicles and equipment city wide.
  • All repairs as needed as breakdowns occur
  • Currently our equipment is in "fair" to "good" condition; we strive to properly maintain this equipment and to plan for the replacement of this equipment in the future.
