Did you know the City of Norton Administration Building is a drop off location for worn-out and retired American Flags?
When the United States flag becomes worn, torn, faded, or badly soiled, it is time to replace the flag with a new flag. The old flag should be "retired" with all the dignity and respect befitting our nation's flag. Please, honor your retired or worn-out flag by dropping it off at a flag drop off location, such as government buildings, American Legions, VFWs, or the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. The flags should not be disposed of in the trash, as that is very disrespectful.
The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 900 picks up the flags from the Norton Administration Building and properly disposes the retired flags in a respectable and dignified process. The flags are disposed during an Unserviceable Flag Ceremony, where the flags are incinerated during a solemn ceremony.
Retired and worn-out flags can be dropped off at the City of Norton Administration Building, located at 4060 Columbia Woods Drive. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, with the exception of holidays. Flags can also be dropped off in the lobby during Council Meetings on Monday's at 7:00 pm.
