year Norton City Council is
comprised of seven members, one elected from each of the four Wards of
the City, with an additional three elected as At-Large members.
These Council members constitute the legislative body of the City;
authorizing the appropriation of funding, construction of public
improvements, and legislation required for the preservation of public
peace, health, welfare, or safety of the citizens who reside in the City
of Norton.
City Council meetings are designed primarily to act on legislation
that has been researched and deliberated in Committee. Public
input best occurs at the Committee level. Communications from the
public are encouraged and will be granted five minutes to speak on
matters now pending before Council or Committee. There are
instruction
forms
at the public podium in Council Chambers, which must be completed five
minutes prior to the meeting start. The Clerk of Council
position, is a full-time appointed position and is responsible for
carrying out the administrative functions of City Council. These
administrative functions include keeping and
maintaining an accurate record of the proceedings of Council and of
its Committees, retaining and preserving all laws and ordinances of the
City as well as other duties that Council may require.

Paper copies of upcoming Council Meeting information is posted, per City guidelines, in each City Voting Ward on the Friday before the scheduled Monday meetings. Citizens wishing to view
complete pre-meeting documentation of the posted Council meetings may access
full meeting packets at the posting area of their ward location-- Pursuant
to the Charter,
Council meets in the Council Chambers in the Safety-Administration
Building.
Meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month,
with the exception of those days which fall on a Federal or State holiday

Married to Eileen, they have two daughters, and four grandchildren. Don is a graduate of Norton High School (1963), graduated from the Akron Barber college and is a USAF veteran. He owned Nicolard's Razors Edge from 1974-1992 and currently owns Donald Lloyd's Hair and Nail Studio. Don served on Council from 1988-1990 and was re-elected to serve on Council beginning 2010. |

Born and raised in Norton, John is married to
Connie. They have two children that are graduates of Norton High School.
John is involved in Boy Scouts of America, Norton Bands, youth softball, and
is an active member of Johnson United Methodist Church. He previously
served on Boards and Commissions during the 90's, served as the Ward 4
Councilman from 2000-2005 and then served on Boards and Commissions until
being chosen by Council to fill the seat vacated by Ken Braman. |
Bill has a son that has graduated from Norton High
School. He has been employed by the F.W. Albrecht Grocery company since 1973,
and is currently working at the Norton Acme. |

Married to Lynn, they have three children, Amber, Tommy and Josh. Tommy is a student at Bowling Green University and Josh is attending Kent State University. He has been a resident of Norton since 1997 and has been involved in various activities throughout the community. Scott served on Norton’s Planning Commission in 2003 and has been a member of Norton City Council since 2004.

Karla has worked as the Clerk of Council beginning December 9, 2002. Karla is the keeper of all Council official records and is responsible to all members of Council. She is a Licensed Notary, an active member of the Ohio Municipal League, the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, and the Summit County Clerks Association. She has earned her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation, and is working towards her MMC (Master Municipal Clerk) |
